NORM/LSA Scale Awareness
This course is designed to give an understanding of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) and Low Specific Activity (LSA) Scale that is encountered during subsea oil and gas operations. The hazards associated with NORM, the controls that are required for personal protection and the methods for preventing environmental contamination will be taught through an easy interactive elearning course.
Course Content
- What is NORM/LSA Scale
- Hazards and risks associated with NORM
- Detection of NORM
- Controls measures for working with NORM
- Divers and NORM
- Handling of Potentially NORM Contaminated Equipment
- Disposal of NORM
- Regulations, references and further reading
Target Participants
NORM is usually encountered during decommissioning operations, pipeline repairs and breaking into older subsea assets. It is recommended that all those who are involved in subsea operations complete this course to have an understanding of the associated hazards.
Participants may include but are not limited to the following:
- Client Representatives
- Offshore Managers
- Divers/Supervisors/Superintendents
- ROV Pilot/Techs and Supervisors
- Field Engineers
- Project Engineers
- Environmental Advisors
- Offshore Representatives
- Project Managers
- Operations Managers
- Vessel Managers
